Revenge (ABC, Wednesday @ 10pmEST)

Revenge is an adaptation of Alexandre Dumas novel The Count of Monte Cristo from a female perspective and centers on Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke (VanCamp), a mysterious young woman who comes to the Hamptons to exact revenge on the people who destroyed her family.

The story begins at the engagement party of Emily and Daniel Grayson where he is shot to death. The show flashbacks back and forth to set up the story revealing what happened in Emily’s past that fuels her desire for revenge.

Emily’s real name is Amanda Clarke. Her father was arrested on terrorism charges and tried for treason when she was a little girl. She ended up in juvenile detention and on her 18th birthday inherited the wealth of the company her father invested in. She decides to use her beauty, wealth, charm, wit and new technology to bring down her enemies.
Emily rents her childhood home from Lydia, best friend and neighbor of her primary target, Victoria Grayson who rules Hampton’s high society. She soon starts to learn everyone's hidden secrets and brings their downfall. She makes a romantic connection with Daniel, Victoria’s son, and an uneasy alliance with the only person who knows her secret Nolan Ross.

In the episodes aired so far, Emily has brought down Bill Harmon, a wealthy hedge funds manager and trusted family friend who testified in the trial that wrongfully convicted her father, destroyed the political and professional life of the district attorney who prosecuted her father, and Dr. Michelle Banks, the psychiatrist responsible for institutionalizing her as a little girl, separating her from her dad for good.

Meanwhile, Victoria's suspicions about Emily grow and she starts digging to find out a little more about this new arrival to the Hamptons.
